Woolston Community Centre News
Woolston Community Centre is a self-supporting facility that relies entirely on hire income and fundraising to remain open and at the heart of our community. Coming later this year to your community centre, we are pleased to present a live music night to aid our ongoing fund raising efforts. On Saturday night 23rd May 2026, our guests will be renowned six piece folk band Beggar’s Belief https://beggarsbelief8.wixsite.com/my-site and rock & pop classics from The Rock-A-fellas. You can expect a very wide variety of songs chosen for maximum enjoyment, and entertainment for the audience (and themselves!). Subtle lighting, cafe atmosphere and the cheapest bar in town (bring your own drinks and glasses) and to ensure maximum enjoyment, we guarantee there will be no flashing lights or special effects! How can you resist? Ticket prices are £7.00 for WCA members, £8.00 for non- members. No under 18s please. Tickets will be available from 1st April 2026. No tickets will be for sale on the night. To avoid disappointment, order your tickets in advance from Barry or Maureen on 023 8043 2216 / email [email protected], Doors open at 7.00 pm for 7.30 pm. The centre is fully accessible and on-site parking is available. All proceeds support Woolston Community Association (Charity No. 302000) and help maintain and improve the Community Centre. Which is managed entirely by volunteers - we're grateful for your support! |
Community garden volunteers needed:
The Community Centre garden mainly features mature shrubs with a wide range of foliage colours, which along with some hardy flowering plants provide a colourful display all year round. Congratulations to all of the garden team for the amazing transformation of a derelict space at the community centre. This was due in no small part to the enthusiasm of founder team member Ray Sturgess, who sadly passed away in 2022. A plaque in his memory was presented to his family and is displayed on the back wall, which borders the house he lived in.
If you would like to volunteer to help with the upkeep of this garden please email: [email protected]
