THE Main Building

Since our major refurbishment back in 2012, we have carried out an extensive range of improvements to enhance the quality of the community facilities we offer and to ensure our building operates as efficiently as it can.

Here are some examples:-
Replacement of the gas fired boiler with a more efficient model.

Installation of air source heat pumps in David Tyrie Hall, Longmore and Silvermere meeting rooms.

Relocation of heating thermostats and sensors to more sensible/strategic positions, to ensure the most efficient operation of the heating systems.

Replacement of environmentally unfriendly bitumen based carpet tiles with top quality floor finishes; bitumen-free carpet tiles to circulation areas and timber effect vinyl sheet flooring to meeting and activity rooms.

Internal redecoration of the most often used rooms - this is now due for review.

External redecoration of the timber windows - this is now due for review.

Creation of a community garden in a neglected, overgrown part of the community centre grounds. Underneath this garden are the remains of a World War 2 air raid shelter.
